Q: How do I take care of my Cactus Silk Cushions?

Cactus Silk Cushions are a delicate handmade item and should be treated accordingly. They are DRY CLEAN ONLY. Do not spot clean. Liquid will affect the colour of the natural vegetable dyes and may cause the colour to run/transfer to other materials. This item is hand woven and dyed. No chemicals are used to fix the colour. We recommend a fabric spray protector. For more information on how to take care of Cactus Silk Cushions, visit our blog post

Q: My rug has an odour?

This can happen when the rugs have been sealed for shipping. We send all of our rugs sealed to protect them from damage or moisture, this can however cause the natural lanolin’s in the wool to ‘sweat’ giving it a natural wool odour.

All of our rugs entering Australia have to pass through very strict quarantine and they are thoroughly cleaned before they arrive. This natural wool smell is more prevalent in some rugs than others depending if the wool has been sourced from the higher or lower regions of the Atlas mountains.

If you are having this issue we suggest that you let your rug air out for a week to let the natural lanolin’s subside. It’s also great to give your rug some fresh air for a day! If it’s nice and sunny putting it out in the direct sun is ideal or if you need protection from the elements and have a covered outdoor area this would be suitable too.

If you are still finding your rug is giving off a strong odour, we suggest a sprinkling of baking soda. Left on for two hours then vacuumed is very efficient at removing odours from any carpet. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact us
